There is a reason for that.
Lionbridge sold its former Lionbridge AI division to TELUS International several years ago. However, Lionbridge itself currently recruits freelance contributors for AI-related projects again, including AI model evaluation, feedback, annotation, response evaluation, linguistic work, and other data tasks.
So if you are looking for a Lionbridge AI rater job today, don’t rely on an old application tutorial and assume the program still works exactly the same way.
Here is what the current opportunity looks like, what an AI rater may actually do, the requirements you could encounter, how compensation works, and how to apply without getting lost among outdated information.

Will You Always Have Tasks?
Do not assume so.
Lionbridge currently promotes a range of AI projects, but the amount of work available to one individual can still depend on their skills, location, qualifications, current projects, and client demand.
Its general global application says contributors are matched to tasks based on their skills and availability and may be contacted when a relevant opportunity becomes available.
That distinction matters.
Registering successfully does not necessarily mean a suitable paid project will appear immediately.

Read the location, language, experience, equipment, and skill requirements.
Don’t apply simply because the title contains “AI.”
A project that closely matches your background gives you a more realistic application.

There is little benefit in exaggerating your skills if the next step is an assessment designed to test them.

These jobs can overlap in the skills they require, but they aren’t necessarily the same.
A traditional search engine evaluator focuses heavily on search queries and the quality or relevance of search results.
Current AI rating projects can involve a much wider range of outputs, including generative AI responses, prompts, linguistic content, and other model-generated material.
